I did 2 weeks of grinding before rune removal, dumped around 10k energy in that time and i got 2 decent runes that werent even slot 2/4/6. So yeah, get used to it rune grinding sucks mayor dick. I think i got 2 or 3 5*+ Vio runes at all but tons of the other runes that no one wants (shield, revenge, will).
